YES IT IS …
and what a couple of weeks it has been, here at YSC head quarters!
Last week we spent the day with the lovely Sarah Mason of www.zebraphotography.co.uk, Sarah spent the day teaching us the basics of how to take good product photographs. It was amazing fun and at the end of the day we were starting to take some great shots. Much better than our previous attempts, that’s for sure!
We love making our bath truffles, the workshop transforms into a huge garden of fluffy chickens, flowers and sparkly glitter every time we make a batch. Production has stepped up a notch since launching YSC wholesale and our batches have grown from making hundreds to one batch making over 2,400 bath truffles! This means lots of piping and very achy arms but it is so worth it, every batch we make, is still made by us, by hand and even though our batch size is a little bigger we never rush them, we pipe each little pot to perfection by hand and hand decorate each truffle individually with our pretty little toppings and glitter sprinkles.
We have also been busy in the soap kitchen making our Easter bath and body treats, this year we decided on summery scents, warm mango, mandarin orange juice, jasmine and green tea and, our personal favourite, hot cross bun!
We also installed our latest window display, this years Easter theme….What came first, the Easter chicken or the Easter egg?
The window features all our Easter soap and bath treats, alongside a giant Easter egg getting ready to hatch, complete with flapping wings!
The whole YSC team got together this week for one of our annual scent testings. Over 100 different bespoke scent samples were sent from our perfumers based in Manchester. We made the samples into 100 different soap cupcake bases, this allows us to test the oils in the finished product and to check for discolouring, scent hold and lather. The smells were amazing and it was extremely hard to whittle the 100 scents down to 50! But after a few hours of deliberation, lathering and sniffing we got there…..
To end the perfect and busy week we were asked by the fabulous ladies from Wadsorth W.I. to hold a private shopping evening, something we do quite a lot and really look forward too. We had the most wonderful evening. We chatted about how we started The Yorkshire Soap Company and how we make our soapy delights, whilst sipping bubbly and shopping for the ladies bathing goodies and gifts!
The ladies also helped us in our quest for this years scent selection. We brought the 50 chosen scents down from the soap workshop for the ladies to personally smell and make the final decision on what scents to choose for our new product launches.
Some truly amazing scents were chosen, scents such as ; rhubarb and raspberry, basil, grapefruit and mint, peony and pomegranate, creamy musk and sandalwood (to name but a few) but the outright winners were vimto and hot apple pie! So these 2 scents will be made into our new range of fun, botanical soap bars, made from 100% natural soya and named after the Wadsorth W.I., as a thank you for the successful evening. The soya bars will be launched over the next few weeks but that’s for another time and another blog post!
We have so much more to tell you but our lips are sealed…….for now, so watch this space for more news on brand new products, brand new packaging and brand new YSC ideas
